Blesséd
by Milady Hawke | Milady Hawke's Live Journal

Rating: PG
Summary: An old promise and a first kiss. Can Legolas live with both?
Warnings: Mild angst.
Feedback: Keeps authors writing.
Disclaimer: I don’t own them *sob*
Archive: Sure - just let me know where.
Dedication: Written for May, the Aníron archivist. Merry Christmas, May, and remember to enjoy it. *hugs*
Author's Note: I know this scenario has been beaten to death like [insert off-color joke here], but this is the season for magic, and this particular moment never loses its shining, no matter how many times it’s written. Submitted to the “100 Words” drabble challenge at Legolas_Aragorn_Slash. In case anyone is wondering, the accent in the title makes it a two-syllable word. Despite appearances, blesséd is pronounced with the stress on the first syllable.

The elf did not flinch when Elessar grasped his pale hands and drew the hesitant body to him. Nor when the man framed the elf’s fair face, ghosting weathered lips against a softening mouth in the faintest whisper of a kiss.

The elf merely pulled away, gently, but deliberately, with a question behind his wetly shimmering eyes and a sharp trouble blossoming in his heart.

“Why?” he asked.

“You could not,” was the answer.

“Your wife−”

“−would not have my heart torn in two.”

For the first time in years, Legolas blessed his promise to stay.
