Aubade
by Milady
Hawke | Milady
Hawke's Live Journal
Rating: PG-13
Summary: "Wilt thou be gone? It is not yet near
day: It was the nightingale and not the lark, That pierced the fearful
hollow of thine ear…" - Juliet.
Feedback: Is like sex. It's all good.
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Author's Note: An aubade is a morning song, a traditional
Medieval and Renaissance poem which usually expresses the regret of
lovers that dawn has come so soon and that they must part. Sometimes
one of the lovers attempts to convince the other to stay abed, as my
Legolas does with Aragorn. Of course the most famous of all aubades
is quoted in the summary, and equally obvious is the fact that originality
is not the point of this piece.

Pay no heed to the meddlesome
sun,
Shut out the light, bolt the door, and
Let the world revolve without us.
Just for today, there are no treaties to
sign,
No counsels to take, no orders to give,
and
Your only duty is in my bed.
Stay with me, love.
